Crimson Moon

Crimson Moon System Requirements

Minimum and recommended PC specs for Crimson Moon, what each hardware tier actually gets you in game, and what is still unconfirmed ahead of release.

Updated Aug 23 · Last verified: 2026-08-23

Minimum Recommended
OS Windows 11 (64-bit) Windows 11 (64-bit)
Processor Intel Core i5-8400 / AMD Ryzen 5 2600 Intel Core i7-10700K / AMD Ryzen 5 5600X
Memory 16 GB RAM 32 GB RAM
Graphics NVIDIA GTX 1070 / AMD RX 5700 NVIDIA RTX 3070 / AMD RX 6700 XT
Storage 50 GB available space 50 GB available space

These system requirements come straight from the Steam listing's PC requirements block. Note the jump in RAM between tiers (16GB → 32GB) — that's a larger gap than most games in this genre ask for, so it's worth double-checking your system's memory specifically, not just the GPU.

The OS line is the strictest part of these system requirements

Both tiers list Windows 11 (64-bit), and Windows 10 does not appear at either tier. That is stricter than most releases in this genre, which typically still name the older OS as their minimum. ProbablyMonsters has not said whether the game simply goes untested there or actively will not run, so treat the listing as written.

If you are still on Windows 10, that is a more likely blocker for you than your GPU, and it is worth resolving before launch day rather than after.

What each tier gets you in practice

Unknown for now. Valve's listing gives hardware tiers, not frame rates or settings presets, and since Crimson Moon hasn't released there's no benchmark or performance footage to cite yet. This section will be filled in with real numbers once the game is out and testable.

Worth noting what the tiers imply about the jump, though. The minimum CPU (Core i5-8400 / Ryzen 5 2600) is a 2017-2018 part, while the recommended (Core i7-10700K / Ryzen 5 5600X) is 2020. The GPU gap is similar — GTX 1070 to RTX 3070 is roughly two generations. The RAM gap is the outlier: doubling from 16 GB to 32 GB is a bigger relative step than either the CPU or GPU tiers, which is unusual and is the single spec most worth checking.

Supported languages

The store page lists eight languages. English has interface, full audio and subtitles; French, Italian, German, Latin American Spanish, Japanese, Brazilian Portuguese and Simplified Chinese have interface text and subtitles. Steam does not list full audio for those seven other languages.

Controller support

The Steam version is marked Full Controller Support and Gamepad Recommended. Steam also lists DualShock and DualSense support categories, but does not describe controller-specific features such as haptics or adaptive triggers. See platforms for the current platform breakdown.

What about the console versions?

Console system requirements don't exist in the same way — PS5 and Xbox Series X|S are fixed hardware, so there is no spec sheet to meet. Neither console version has a release date yet regardless; see platforms.

When these system requirements might change

Published requirements are estimates until a game ships, and studios revise them after final optimisation passes. This page will be rechecked against the Steam listing once the game is out, and any change to the stated system requirements will be noted here with the date it changed.

Steam Deck

See platforms for the "can I play it at all" answer — short version: no Deck compatibility rating is listed yet. Once one exists, actual frame rate, battery life, and recommended settings for handheld play will go here.

Storage and cloud saves

Both requirement tiers list 50 GB of storage. Steam Cloud save support is not listed as a category on the store page as of this check, so whether progress syncs across devices automatically is currently unconfirmed.

If it stutters: what to turn down first

Nothing to recommend yet — there's no shipped build to test settings against. Once the game is out and this page can be verified against real performance data, this section will list the settings worth lowering first for the minimum-spec tier.

FAQ

Does it run on a laptop?

Not tested yet, but a laptop matching or exceeding the listed desktop specs (particularly a discrete GTX 1070/RX 5700-class mobile GPU) would be the starting point to check.

Mac or Linux?

No — the store page lists Windows 11 (64-bit) only, with no macOS or native Linux support and no mention of Proton compatibility testing.

How much RAM do I really need?

Steam's own minimum is 16GB and recommended is 32GB — treat 16GB as a hard floor, not a comfortable target, given how unusually high the recommended tier is set.

Does it support ultrawide monitors (21:9, 3440x1440)?

Not confirmed either way. The store page's requirements block doesn't list supported resolutions or aspect ratios, and ProbablyMonsters hasn't said anything about ultrawide support in official materials so far.
