Every announcement so far
Newest first, pulled from ProbablyMonsters' official Steam announcements:
August 18, 2026 — Behind the Score: Creating the Music of Crimson Moon
A behind-the-scenes video with Music Manager/Composer Steve Pardo and Audio Lead/Composer Christopher Wilson on recording the game's score, which blends orchestral and choral music with metal.
August 12, 2026 — How Builds Work in Crimson Moon
Explains the build system: no fixed classes, nine equippable gear slots (four armour, two trinkets, a one-handed weapon and shield, a two-handed weapon), Boons from gear that modify combat, Weapon Arts with cooldowns, and Nexus Gates encountered mid-run that offer temporary Boons. Builds can also be shared and complemented between co-op partners.
August 4, 2026 — Crimson Moon Launches September 1 – Release Date Trailer & Editions Revealed
Confirmed the release date, September 1, 2026, alongside a Release Date Trailer. Two editions were revealed: Standard Edition ($19.99) and Deluxe Edition ($29.99), the latter including a Ceremonial Armor Set, the Axe of the Gods, and a Post-launch Expansion. Standard Edition owners will be able to upgrade to Deluxe for $10. See Preorder & Editions for the full breakdown.
July 30, 2026 — Gameplay Explained: Welcome to Sanctus Clypeus
Introduces Sanctus Clypeus, the player's hub between hunts — the War Table (mission selection), the Loadout Station (gear/consumables/Angel prep), and the allies stationed there: Gallant (mentor, bounty quests), Mereda (historian, trades Lore Scrolls and Souls for Boons/Blessings), Lotte (sells trinkets/throwables/consumables), and Gajov (upgrades gear rarity).
July 22, 2026 — Gameplay Explained: Loot & Progression in Crimson Moon
Covers how loot is found (exploration, elites, bosses, missions), the Purify system that permanently adds discovered gear to your collection for use in future hunts, and how higher difficulty levels increase loot rarity.
July 8, 2026 — How Runs Work in Crimson Moon - Gameplay Explainer
Walks through the core loop: every run starts at Sanctus Clypeus, then heads into a Ward (missions, elites, mini-bosses, a boss); a life pool lets you recover from death mid-run, but once it's exhausted the run ends and unsaved loot is lost, while purified gear and unlocked equipment carry over permanently.
June 10, 2026 — The Crusade Begins - Crimson Moon Dev Log #1
The first Dev Log, posted alongside the Summer Game Fest trailer. Confirmed the original release window as September 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox, and PC, and announced the FirstLook community program, where early Discord members can earn free pre-launch armor sets (details said to be coming later).
What's the latest news
The September 1, 2026 launch date and edition lineup announced August 4 is still the most significant confirmed update (see the full list above). The most recent post (August 18) is a behind-the-scenes look at the game's music rather than new gameplay or launch information.
None of the seven posts so far are patch notes in the usual sense — the game has not shipped, so there is nothing to patch. They are announcement posts and gameplay explainers. Real patch notes only start once the game is live, and they will be summarised here as they land.
Do updates break saves?
Not applicable before launch — there's no build and no saves yet. Once Crimson Moon ships, this section will track whether patches have wiped or preserved progress, based on official patch notes and player reports. Where patch notes and player reports disagree, both get recorded here.
How often does Crimson Moon get news?
Roughly every 1-2 weeks recently: the last four posts (July 22 – August 18) landed 6-8 days apart. Earlier in the campaign the gaps were wider — 14 days between the July 8 and July 22 posts, and 28 days between the June 10 Dev Log and the next post. This is observed cadence from the seven posts published so far, not a promised schedule.
How to follow updates
The fastest ways to catch news the moment it posts: wishlist the game on Steam (Steam emails wishlisted accounts about major changes), follow the official Discord announcements channel, or check X / Twitter for ProbablyMonsters' Crimson Moon account.
FAQ
Do I need to reinstall after a patch?
Not applicable yet — there's no released build.
Where are the full patch notes?
There aren't any yet. Once the game ships, official patch notes will be linked from this page and summarized in the list above, with the version number each set of patch notes applies to.
Are there any reviews yet?
No — Crimson Moon hasn't released, and Steam currently shows "No user reviews." Press coverage (IGN and others) so far consists of previews and gameplay explainer write-ups based on the same official videos linked above, not scored reviews.
